Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 19, 2026

Zetfeed is a subscription-based news reader with a free tier. Our revenue comes from subscriptions rather than advertising. We do not build advertising profiles, track you across the web, or sell your personal information. This Privacy Policy describes the personal information that we do collect, the purposes for which we use it, how long we retain it, and the choices and rights available to you.

Summary

  • We collect what's needed to run your account and personalize your feed, never for advertising.
  • We use no third-party analytics, ad networks, or tracking pixels.
  • We never sell your personal information.
  • You can export your subscriptions and permanently delete your account at any time.
  • Deleting your account erases your personal data from our systems.

Information we collect

Account information. Your email address, a display name, and, if you sign up with a password, a hashed version of that password (we never store the password itself). If you sign up using a third-party sign-in option, we store the identifier that provider gives us and the email it shares; there is no password.

Your subscriptions and library. The feeds you subscribe to, how you organize them into folders, tags you create, saved searches, and keywords you choose to block.

Reading activity. Which articles you've read, saved, or otherwise engaged with. We use this to make recommendations and to power your reading stats and unread counts. This activity is tied to your account.

Settings and preferences. Your reading preferences (theme, layout, fonts, and similar); your timezone; custom keyboard shortcuts; and any locations you save. You choose a saved location by entering a city or ZIP code and we translate that into an approximate, city-level point to look up local news, weather and events for that location. We never access your device's GPS or track where you are.

Feature personalization. The choices you make to tailor optional features to your interests; for example, stock symbols, sports teams, or TV shows. We use these only to show you the information you've asked for.

IP addresses. When you sign in or sign up, we use your IP address transiently for rate-limiting and abuse prevention. It is held briefly in our cache and is not written to our database. Separately, when you add a brand-new feed to the service, we record the IP address of that request to help us investigate abuse (for example, a feed pointed at illegal content). This feed-attribution IP is deleted when you delete your account, unless the feed was removed for abuse — in that case we retain it as part of our abuse-prevention records.

Device tokens for notifications. If you enable push notifications in our apps, we store the push token for your device so we can deliver alerts you've asked for.

Feedback. If you send feedback from within the app, we receive your message along with basic diagnostic details (app version, operating system and version, device model, locale, and timezone) and your account email, so we can respond and fix problems.

Payment information. Subscriptions are purchased through the app store on your device or the website and managed for us by a third-party subscription-management provider. We receive confirmation of your subscription status linked to your account identifier. Your payment itself is handled by the app store. We never receive or store your card or payment-method details.

How we use your information

  • To provide the core reading experience: fetching your feeds, syncing your read/saved state across devices, and running search.
  • To personalize your "For You" recommendations and show you your reading stats.
  • To send account and service emails (email verification, password resets, subscription notices, and any email digests you opt into).
  • To keep the service secure: authentication, rate-limiting, and preventing abuse and fraud.
  • To respond to your support requests and feedback.

Cookies

We use a single essential cookie to keep you signed in. It works only on Zetfeed, cannot be read by other websites, and is never used to track you. We also store a few preferences, such as your theme, in your browser so it remembers your choices.

We do not use advertising cookies, tracking cookies, or any third-party analytics cookies.

Service providers we share data with

We rely on a small number of service providers ("sub-processors") to operate. Each is used only for a specific function, receives only the data needed for that function, and is bound to process it solely on our behalf, never for its own purposes. By category:

  • Cloud hosting. A hosting provider located in the United States runs our servers and database; your account data is stored there.
  • Email delivery. A transactional email provider sends our account and notification emails (verification, password resets, subscription notices, and any digests you opt into). It receives your email address and the contents of those messages.
  • Push notifications. When you enable notifications, your device platform's push service delivers them. It receives a device push token and the notification content.
  • Subscription management. A subscription-management provider records whether you have an active subscription. It receives an account identifier and purchase events, never your payment details.
  • Sign-in provider. If you choose a third-party sign-in option (i.e. Apple or Google), that provider verifies your identity and shares a unique identifier and your email so we can create or match your account.
  • Third-party data services. Some features such as weather, local events, sports, stocks, lottery results and TV listings are powered by outside data providers. When you use these, our servers request the relevant information using only non-identifying details (for example, a city-level location for weather or nearby events, a stock symbol, or a sports league). These providers are never given your identity, account, or device.

We do not use any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services.

Anonymous, aggregate trends

We may create and share anonymous, aggregate statistical information about content trends and reader engagement with partners and the public. This information never identifies you and cannot reasonably be linked back to you. We never sell personal information. You may opt out of having your reading activity included in these anonymous statistics by emailing hello@zetfeed.com with the subject "Opt-out Request". In your message, include your account's email address, which is displayed under your name at the top of the "You" page. We may be unable to process your request if we do not have this exact email address. Note that the address may be different from one that you typically use, especially if you signed up using Apple or Google.

How long we keep your data

We keep your account information and preferences for as long as your account is active. By default, your reading history is kept for only a limited time, but you're in control: you can lengthen or shorten that window whenever you like in your settings, and any articles you save are kept until you choose to remove them. More granular engagement events and recommendation history are retained only briefly, and longer-term reading statistics are kept only as periodic summaries. The personalization signals that power your "For You" feed are kept while your account is active and are deleted when you delete your account.

Your rights and choices

Access and export. You can export your feed subscriptions as an OPML file from your settings at any time. To request a full copy of your personal data, email us at hello@zetfeed.com using the exact subject line "Data Export Request". In your message, include your account's email address, which is displayed under your name at the top of the "You" page. We may be unable to process your request if we do not have this exact email address. Note that the address may be different from one that you typically use, especially if you signed up using Apple or Google. Once we verify your request against your account, we enable a time-limited download in your account settings — a machine-readable archive containing your profile, preferences, saved articles, saved searches, tags, blocked keywords, game statistics, and more.

Deletion. You can permanently delete your account from your account settings, or in our apps. Deletion is immediate and permanent: it removes your profile, subscriptions, reading history, saved items, preferences, tags, game progress, notification tokens, connected-service credentials, and the personalization data described above. It cannot be undone. Note that any content you previously exported to a connected third-party service (for example, a read-later app) remains with that service and is governed by their policy.

Personalization opt-out. You can opt out of contributing to anonymous aggregate trends (see above).

Location. You can add or remove saved locations at any time from settings.

To exercise any of these rights, or if you have questions, contact us at hello@zetfeed.com.

Account termination and enforcement

If we suspend or terminate an account for violating our Terms of Service (for example, abuse, fraud, or posting illegal content), we may retain a limited record (specifically, a one-way cryptographic hash of the email address and the reason for the action) even after the rest of the account's data has been deleted. We keep this to enforce our Terms, prevent the terminated user from re-registering, and prevent fraud and abuse. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in the security and integrity of the service.

Where we are legally required to retain or disclose information to comply with a legal obligation or valid legal process, we will preserve the relevant account data for as long as the law requires.

How we protect your data

  • Passwords are protected with strong, industry-standard one-way hashing — we never store your actual password.
  • Login sessions are stored in a protected form, so a database compromise would not expose usable login credentials.
  • Any credentials for third-party services you connect are encrypted before storage.
  • All traffic is encrypted in transit, and we apply additional safeguards at the server and browser layers to defend against common web attacks.

No system is perfectly secure, but we take these measures to reduce risk.

Children

Zetfeed is not directed to children. You must be at least 13 years old (or older where required by your local law) to create an account. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Where your data is processed

Our servers are located in the United States, and your information is processed there. If you access Zetfeed from outside the United States, you understand your information will be transferred to and processed in the U.S.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we'll update the "last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you.
